Information to the user



Universidad de Oviedo, with registered office at C/ SAN FRANCISCO, 3 – Oviedo 33007 (ASTURIAS) and CIF Q3318001I, hereinafter the
RESPONSIBLE PARTY, is the party responsible for the processing of the User’s personal data and informs you that this data will be processed in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 (GDPR) on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data, for which you are provided with the following processing information:

Purpose of processing.

At the time of data collection, you will be informed of the purposes of the processing, which may be:

  1. Teaching and academic management, in particular the management of enrollment, the preparation of qualification records and their publicity, the preparation of personal certificates, issuance of degrees, management of internships in companies and institutions, and in general those necessary for the provision of the functions of a Public Service of Higher Education.
  2. Management of research related to the research activity of the Teaching and Research Staff and research contracts.
  3. Personnel management for the purposes necessary for the maintenance of labor relations and compliance with the legal regulations governing the matter, both for the Teaching and Research Staff and for the Administration and Services Staff.
  4. Economic and patrimony management, in particular the processing and management of subscribed contracts and requests for services offered by the University of Oviedo.
  5. Management of applications and offers of employment, and in its case of the selective process to which it could give rise, including the preparation of employment exchanges.
  6. Services to the university community, including, among others, prevention service, library, transportation, sports, international relations, institutional e-mail and access to telematic services.
  7. Request for information, doubts or suggestions, as well as the presentation of requests and writings addressed to the University of Oviedo.

Criteria for the conservation of data

They will be kept as long as there is a mutual interest to maintain the purpose of the treatment and when it is no longer necessary for that purpose, they will be deleted with appropriate security measures to ensure the pseudonymization of the data or the total destruction of the same.

Communication of data

The Data Controller contracts with third party data processors in order to provide its services. In particular, the Controller has signed agreements with the following service providers:

  1. Microsoft (e-mail service).
  2. Telecable (data and communications network service).

With the exception of the aforementioned entities, your data will not be disclosed to other third parties. If for any reason it is necessary to communicate said data to third parties, you will be informed beforehand and, if applicable, you will be asked for your consent and the purposes of the communication and the identity of the third party to whom the data will be communicated will be specified.

All this, with the exception of cases in which a legal requirement to communicate such data to a third party or obtain the consent of the person concerned.

Rights of the User

The persons who provide us with their data have the following rights in relation to the same:

  1. Right of access
  2. Right of rectification or deletion
  3. Right to limitation of processing
  4. Right to portability
  5. Right to object
  6. Right to revoke consent
  7. Right to file a complaint Competent Control Authority, in this case, the Spanish Data Protection Agency, especially in case you have not obtained satisfaction in the exercise of your rights. Rights 1-6 can be exercised by sending the application form that you can download here or by sending an email to secretariageneral@uniovi.es, clearly indicating which right you wish to exercise and providing a copy of your identity document to prove your identification.

All the data collected comes from the interested party.

Data Protection Officer (DPO)

The RESPONSIBLE, in order to ensure the security of your data, has appointed a Data Protection Officer who can be contacted through the following email address: delegadopdatos@uniovi.es.

Compulsory or optional nature of the information provided by the user

Users, by ticking the corresponding boxes and entering data in the fields marked with an asterisk (*) in the contact form or presented in download forms, expressly and freely and unequivocally accept that their data are necessary to meet their request, by the provider, being voluntary the inclusion of data in the remaining fields. The User guarantees that the personal data provided to the RESPONSIBLE are truthful and is responsible for communicating any changes to them.

The RESPONSIBLE expressly informs and guarantees users that their personal data will not be disclosed under any circumstances to third parties, and that whenever any type of transfer of personal data is made, the express, informed and unequivocal consent of the Users will be requested beforehand. All data requested through the website are mandatory, as they are necessary for the provision of an optimal service to the User. If all the data is not provided, there is no guarantee that the information and services provided will be completely tailored to your needs.

Security measures

That in accordance with the provisions of the current regulations on personal data protection, the RESPONSIBLE is complying with all provisions of the GDPR regulations for the processing of personal data under its responsibility, and manifestly with the principles described in Article 5 of the GDPR, whereby they are processed lawfully, fairly and transparently in relation to the data subject and are adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed.

The RESPONSIBLE guarantees that it has implemented appropriate technical and organizational policies to apply the security measures established by the GDPR in order to protect the rights and freedoms of the Users and has communicated adequate information to them so that they can exercise them.
