The Conference

The University of Oviedo in Spain, through its Institute of Organometallic Chemistry «Enrique Moles» and the Department of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, has been hosting the Barluenga Conference annually since 2014. This prestigious international event, firmly embedded in the global chemistry conference calendar, serves as a tribute to the late Professor José Barluenga, acknowledging his pioneering contributions to Chemistry and the advancement of Science in Spain.

The conference features the Barluenga Lectureship, during which the honoree delivers a lecture and is awarded a commemorative medal. Additionally, the conference features a symposium where other distinguished scientists deliver invited lectures in sessions organized specifically for the event. Also, during the conference, the recipient of the GQOR-José Barluenga Medal receives the award and presents a talk.
